Anthropology: Homo sapien interaction with other Homo species and hominids?

  • Considering there was probably a lot of overlap between the existence of different Homo species, homids and homo sapiens. And that they probably existed together for amazingly long periods of time. There must have been some degree of cooperation?     Well, we don't really relate very well to even members of our own species that look a little different than us. There's also a lot of evidence that modern humans don't really have any Neanderthal DNA, so we probably didn't intermarry. My guess is, between the xenophobia natural to our species, and because we were such direct competitors for resources, that we probably didn't hit it off too well. If we were able to live harmoniously side by side, I imagine the other hominids would still be around.

That is one of the more interesting questions to hominid evolution. I suspect that we did not interact well. We seem to me to be a highly competitive and aggressive population. Our penchant for fighting probably made us a species to avoid if possible.

The most likely answer and the most disturbing one is..... we found them to be delicious. .

"There must have been some degree of cooperation?" Get the empirical support for that statement, or it is just sheer conjecture and not worthy of serious consideration. PS. there is no support for your conjecture on the site you gave.

Different species of ape don't cooperate now, why would they cooperate then? Survival was about competition, not cooperation. Within a territory, if food and resources were plentiful then there was no competition. With scarcity or hardship, then the survival of the fittest comes in to play. Those who were better equipped with the knowledge to make furs or fire were more likely to survive cold climates etc.
