Does anybody have tips on learning a guitar after bass?

Learning To Play The Guitar; Tips or Advice? :D?

• As the title says, I'm going to be learning how to play the guitar. I've always wanted to, but I've just recently gotten the chance to take classes. ^___^ I'm usually only doing vocals for music, so guitar is going to be a big change for me. (/extremely excited) So, I wanted to know if anyone had some advice or tips for beginners? Anything would help. I really want to do my best, and I'm sure you guys could really help me out. Also, my friend who's been playing piano for about five years is starting bass, so if you have anything to say about bass too, that would be greatly appreciated! :]

  Your fingertips will hurt badly the first couple of weeks. Don't quit. The muscles in your fingers will hurt from stretching in ways they never did. Don't quit. Learning to make the notes ring and chords sound takes time. Don't quit. You have to crawl before you walk and walk before you run. Don't quit. Every guitarist and bassist has made these rites of passage. Don't quit. xx
