Will Vibrato in my voice develop?

How do I get my voice to have vibrato?

  • Hi I'm Kristin and I'm about 14 1/2. I've been singing my whole life but taking actual voice lessons for 2 years now. My voice teacher says my voice is pretty young and might be changing a little bit now (Which is really annoying because I look alot older...so although my voice is younger I'm not casted as younger characters where as I look older and can't get casted as an older character because my voice is young =/ ) My teacher said vibrato will come naturally....but I'm sure you can still have it with a younger voice since I've heard lots of child singers who have vibrato. Every so often when I'm singing I'll get it a little bit....but it's not consistent at all....................... Tips/comments anyone???? Thankss!!!

  • Answer:

Age 14 or even up to 21 should not be concerned with developing vibrato. Early development and forced vibrato causes a very wide vibrato later in life. I am sure you do not want to ever sound like those older ladies who sing with such wide vibratos that they are irritating. I really don't think you are missing parts because you do not have a vibrato.
