A midsummer nights dream helena monologue?
-
Tomorow for my acting class i perform one of helenas most famous monologues and theres certain lines i have questions on The Monologue: How happy some or other can be through athens im thought as fair as she but what of that? demetrious thinks not so he will not know all but he do know and as he errs doting on hermias eyes so i admiring of his qualites-- this is the first one i have a question on and shakespheres romeo and juliet in the balcony scene juliet says Monague? whats montague? its nor hand nor foot nor arm nor face, nor any other part belonging to a man everyone knows thats a joke on romeo's penis now any admiring of his qualities is that another joke like that? okay back to the monologue Things base and vile holding no quanity love can transpose to form new dignity love looks not with the eyes but with the mind thefore wing'd cupid painted blind nor hath loves mind judgemnet taste wings and no eyes figure unheedy haste and therefore love said to be a child because in choice he is so oft beguiled --- what does beguiled mean? as waggish boys in game themselves forswear so the boy love is prejured everywhere --- what does that line mean? for ere demtrious looked on hermias eyne he hailed down oaths that he was only mine and when that hail some heat hermia felt so he dissolved and showers of oaths did melt i will go tell him of fair hermias flight then to the wood will he tomrow night persue her, and for this interllegence if i have thanks it is a dear expense but herein mean i to enrich my pain to have his sight thither and back again also, is there a video of someone performing this so i have an idea on how to?

Answer:
okay- for the Helena monologue How happy some or other can be through athens im thought as fair as she but what of that? demetrious thinks not so he will not know all but he do kno-w and as he errs doting on hermias eyes so i admiring of his qualites-- It's saying How is it that others can be so happy when i am not, throughout athens everyone thinks that i am as pretty as she is but who really cares if Dimitrius doesn't think so. He doesn't even know what he thinks he knows, so here he is doting on how beautiful Hermia is I am also doting on how beautiful he is (I believe she talks about following him into the woods at this point)... Things base and vile holding no quanity love can transpose to form new dignity love looks not with the eyes but with the mind thefore wing'd cupid painted blind nor hath loves mind judgemnet taste wings and no eyes figure unheedy haste and therefore love said to be a child because in choice he is so oft beguiled Even if things and feeling seem sure and rooted they can change, love comes from within and not from outward apperiances, therefore cupid must be wrong because he has made sure that i am not loved for my inward beauty but hermia is loved for her outward beauty. Therefore love is a foolish game becausewho love finds and chooses is often wrong or is in trickery ( Beguiled) means trickery or mislead. as waggish boys in game themselves forswear so the boy love is prejured everywhere the boy love is cupid again, it's saying that love plays games on it's self and is unruly and confusing. or ere demtrious looked on hermias eyne he hailed down oaths that he was only mine and when that hail some heat hermia felt so he dissolved and showers of oaths did melt i will go tell him of fair hermias flight then to the wood will he tomrow night persue her, and for this interllegence if i have thanks it is a dear expense but herein mean i to enrich my pain to have his sight thither and back again Demitrius lks at Hermia lke he loves her although he has professioned that he likes me before this moment. But as soon as Hermia showed feelings back to him he completely lost any interest in me and said he never felt them in the first place. I'll tell him that Hermia and Lysander are going to run away, he'll go after them and i he'll be so happy that i told him this he will want me back and althoigh this might be all at my own risk I need to induldge in my pain if it means i can get him love me again. okay- well I was in this play twice and habe my BFA in acting, but i am not sure that is all dead on, I would use a Lexicon to look up any questions of shakepeares beautiful language, it's like the offical shakespeare dictionary. Hope this helps.
