What paint can I use on guitar?

What paint would i use to paint a guitar crack?

  If you want to know exactly what paint to use, simply call the guitar manufacturer and find out what paint they recommend. I, for example, back in 1995 I had flames custom painted on my Les Paul by a famous hot rod pinstriper. Before he would do the artwork he asked me to find out exactly what paint Gibson used to paint my guitar (my Les Paul was a custom charcoal gray). The people at Gibson were more than happy to tell me what paint was used to paint my guitar, PLUS they told me what paint should be used to paint the flames, and what clear coat paint to recoat the guitar with once the flames were dry. If you can't get in touch with the manufacturer or don't wish to go that route (I don't know how significant the crack is), as an artist, I would highly recommend that you use ONE SHOT paint. This is the paint pinstripers and flame pullers use on hot rods and other cars. It's also the paint used on outdoor signs. The artist who pinstriped the outline of my flames used One Shot paint. I've used One Shot myself to paint the Stray Cat's logo on one of my bass guitars years ago. You can find One Shot at any reputable art supply store. They sell small cans of paint= I think the smallest I've seen is a half pint, so you don't have to worry about buying a huge can for a small crack. Buy a good paint brush; one that has very smooth and silky hairs. Don't use a brush that has synthetic, plasticy bristles. Let me know if you need any more help or info.
