How can I apply for JYP audition online?

SM/JYP Audition Questions!?

  • My name is Judy and I'm 14 and I want to audition for either SM or JYP Entertainment but I'm not sure which one I should do, so if you guys would tell me. I'm Taiwanese but I live in the U.S, and I can speak, write, and read English and I can speak Mandarin fluently and some simple phrases in Korean. And looking at my profile picture on Yahoo Answers, which company should I try out for? Both? So here are my other questions! -What language can you sing in? Would it be better to sing in Korean, English, or Mandarin? Do you have to sing songs from their company? -Do you have to know how to speak Korean? -I'm planning on auditioning in email for SM and the online audition for JYP, so I've heard people say if you try out in the United States, you don't get to debut in Asia and you just stay in the U.S? Because I want to be in Asia. -Which one is better, JYP or SM? -When you train, do you go to Korea to train, or stay in the U.S? -If you become a trainee, what happens to your education? -I'm interested in singing, do I have to pass a dancing round too? I'm not too good at dancing... -How many stages of auditions are there? -I heard if you make it through the first auditions, you have to audition in person in Korea? What if you live FAR FAR away from Korea? -When will they contact you if you make it? Will they call you or email you? -Which one pays better? -I heard some trainees never got to debut? Why is that? -Do they have deadlines for auditioning? For SM I'm auditioning in e-mail, do I have to wait until next years or can I just audition anytime? For JYP I'm doing the online audition. Hopefully someone can answer all my questions! Also, I haven't talked to my parents about this yet, I'm just gonna try this out. Hopefully I can make it! Wish me luck!

I can't really see your face in that picture, so I can't judge from that. Just one thing though, SM thinks about looks a lot. Especially if you're young, they don't want to have to deal with plastic surgery issues at such a young age. Your age is perfect for kpop though, because say you train for about 4 years, then you'll still be young and Asia is all for the fresh look. As for JYPE, they think about talent more than looks. They're a lot stricter in terms of talent than SM. 1) You can sing in any language that you wish. Whichever song you feel will best portray your voice is the best song. So if you're really good at singing a song in Mandarin, then sing in Mandarin! As for the songs from the company, I wouldn't recommend it unless you're really good at singing that song. The reason being that the judges have heard that song being sung by the actual artists and they'll automatically compare your version to theirs. So unless you sing just as well or better, you shouldn't sing that company's song. That's only my opinion though. 2) You don't have to know how to speak Korean. It's definitely better, but it's not a requirement. You don't need to rush to take Korean classes, because they'll have Korean classes for you, instead of English like most trainees do. 3) I'm pretty sure you go to Asia. It typically works like you debut in Korea, then after a two years or so, you start broadening your market and you head into places like Japan, China, and maybe America. 4) It depends on what you want. I've heard that JYPE is generally a "nicer" company. Meaning that they have less restrictions on contracts and you're more free. I'm not sure if it's true, and this isn't a great example, but like with Sunmi, she was able to leave without all the lawsuits and such, whereas SM is having a big battle with Hankyung and the trio from DBSK.Research about the two companies and then decide which will be a better match for you and your personality :) 5) You go to Korea to train. 6) You probably will go to an international school in Korea. If not, maybe they have classes at the office, but I doubt that. It's generally a normal life. Since you aren't in Korea, you probably will live in dorms, and then you go to school, and after that you have dancing, singing, acting, and Korean lessons. 7) No matter what audition you go to, there will always be a rhythm test where they play music for about 1 minute and you freestyle to that. The point is to just act confident and look like you know what you're doing, even if you don't. The main thing for these auditions to remember is to be confident and believe in yourself. The industry is quick, so you can't hesitate and just be out there! Just learn a couple simple steps, copy some moves from other idols audition videos, and just kind of move around a lot during the rhythm test if you don't have experience with dancing. 8) For both SM and JYPE, there is typically 3 rounds. So for example if you do an email audition, then they would email you back. You have a callback, and then if they like you they'll call you back again. I'm not sure if you have another audition in the US but after that you have to find a way to get to Korea and audition in front of the official selecting judges. For JYPE, it's basically the same process. 9) You'll have a second audition after the first one in the US or wherever the audition was held. Then after you'll have to find a way to get to Korea. They most likely won't pay for you, since you aren't officially a part of SM yet. 10) For email and weekly auditions for SM, they generally email back within 2 weeks. For global auditions, they generally take about a month or four weeks. For JYPE, same deal. The online auditions, they should email back in about 2 weeks. 11) I think JYPE pays more equally and fairly. 12) They're not ready? Too much stress? I'm not sure. I've just heard that trainee years are really harsh, and if you're not up to the standards, then you don't get to debut. Which makes sense but it makes it difficult to debut. Also, some just quit because it's really stressful especially if it's over 5 years. 13) For both of those auditions, the auditions are year-long meaning there is no deadline and they check it often :) Good luck in your auditions!
