How do you become a voice actress or voice over?

I wanna become an anime voice actress?

  • I know what your thinking, don't limit yourself when it comes to voice acting, or even acting alone. But I am 13 years old and I think there wouldn't be a problem if I did. Don't get me wrong, I like to act. But I love anime, since I cant really write without coping someone elses plot or god forbid DRAW, I found myself fond of the idea of voice acting. I see famous voice actors like Vic Mignogna and I wish I can be like him. I know it's a fairly hard process for I have auditioned for many other types of roles like acting. One for an agency which I got a call back but declined because it was too much to pay for angent. Anyway, my really question is, what anime voice over/ dubbing company is in the Los Angeles region? I was just on the funimation (which is in Dallas TX) site and it said requirements for voice acting was consent of parent and experience in acting. Which I do have. But I don't know what Los Angeles company is used for dubbing. If you know can you show me a link to their website? I hear anime voice actors mention Los Angeles a lot but don't really give in much detail.

  • Answer:

Doing voice acting is probably the MOST competitive thing in show business. You will need an AGENT because nobody will talk to you directly and you need to have either a SAG card or an EQUITY card. You WILL be competing against seasoned actors from the movies and Broadway.
