Good way to learn to read guitar music?

IF I CANT READ MUSIC, WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO LEARN BASIC GUITAR?

    If you don't want to learn to read music (much different than "can't read music"), you could just go online and search for basic chords and find charts that show you where to put your fingers for certain chords and learn that. Most music for guitar will have the name of the chord you're supposed to play above the words. You can just strumt the appropriate chord at the appropriate time. Tabs are another good way to learn to play basic guitar. Go google "basic guitar lessons" and check out what comes up. There's a ton of stuff out there so I'm not going to list specific URL's for you. This one looked pretty good: http://www.cyberfret.com/first-fret/index.php

If you can't read music then you need to solve this problem and learn it. It's really no-brainer, it takes a few minutes of your life and saves hours and hours of struggle.

Learn to read music. It's that simple. Most people learn to read when they learn an instrument. If you don't learn, you won't get very far in learning to play the guitar, basic or not.

Learning and understanding the fretboard is a good place to start. Music is built on patterns and if you understand how these patterns work, you'll have a solid foundation start with.

chords or tabs are easy. chords are probably the easiest. do you know your chords? if you don't search teaching videos on youtube, which is how i learned. this is where i get all my chords & tabs from : http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/ just type in the song/ artist in the search box, and a list will appear, and beside they will say chords, tabs, etc. so start of with chords , once you get better , learn about tabs.

you should teach yourself how to read tabs and chords, its really simple. that's how i learnt guitar :) guitar is a pretty easy instrument to teach yourself, just keep at it and you'll get there :)

You can do it by ear. But don´t be afraid, this is much easier than it sounds. There are several exercises that can help you to develop your ear and believe me, having a trained ear is a wonderful thing! it has a lot of benefits too. well, first you want to get a good guitar. Epiphones or Ibanezs are nice. Then, you may want to get lessons or something, but if you cant read music, learn to read tabs .... much simpler
