Who was the best saxophone player that played for Miles?

Saxophone?

  • my teacher said that the violin is one of the hardest instruments to play, is that true? i am alto sax player and i said that the trumpet and saxophone are pretty much the same of how hard they are to play. he told me that the trumpet was way harder to play because you have to use you lips more. and also said that the saxophone is the easiest instrument to play. I disagree. i have played only for 1 yr, and maybe that why disagree. if you play saxophone, do you think it is the easiest instrument to play? it gets me mad because i work so hard to get the low notes out and i don't think everybody could play the saxophone.

  • Answer:

The short of it is: the easiest instrument to play is the one you enjoy the most and want to play. The more difficult instruments fall below this one in proportionate steps. Although saxophone is relatively easy to learn to play "Mary had a little lamb", ultimately there is a lot more involved in being good on it. Good tone, good intonation, good articulation, etc. Also the standard of greatness is very high on saxophone and it demands very high technical (fast, clean playing) expertise. These things take years to develop to the point where you sound seasoned and mature on.the instrument. In the end, any and every instrumentalist has 10,000 hours on their chosen instrument before they can be great. The easiest instrument is the one that is easiest to get mileage on.

I tried the trumpet once and it was VERY hard to play... I play tuba now. You have to have really small lips to play that interment. My best advice is just to keep playing the alto sax.

It's all different. Trumpet and saxophone are from different musical families. Of course they'll be different! Woodwinds generally need the embouchre to get a good tone. Such as clarinets need tight corners and a control of the shape of their mouth. Flutes need to know when to loosen and relax and how to make the right shape. Brass use their lips more, but that doesn't mean it's harder. It'll prolly be difficult for them to switch to a woodwind because the techniques aren't alike at all. I'm a clarinetist and I tried sax. Good lord, I couldn't hit the low C!

I've been playing alto sax for 2 years yes i agree with your music teacher violin is hard to play. I think trumpet would be more harder then the sax, the trumpet requires your lips and more air. Sax would be easy to anyone if they knew how to read music notes.

by far the easiest instrument to play is the kazoo

You have to balance the scales. As with everything, different things are different for different people... If that made any sense to you, I don't know. Anyway, I've been play the Alto Sax for about 3 years now and I would actually say that the trumpet probably is harder to play than the saxophone even if I wouldn't go to the extreme of saying that the saxophone is the easiest to play. The truth is, the trumpet really does take a lot more practice in using your lips and blowing just right and all of that whereas with the saxophone you just have to memorize the different keys and basically blow. Though you do have to drop your jaw or tighten your "bite" on the mouthpiece for the really high and really low end of the scales, you basically just press the keys and blow. Though it does take a lot of practice to get those really low notes and high notes, as I said at the beginning, things that may be easy for one person may be hard for the next.

I wouldn't say that the saxophone is the easiest instrument to play or the harderst. It takes practice to be able to get out the really low notes and the really high notes. But I definitley think that the trumpet is one of the harder ones because you do have to use your lips more.

sax is pretty easy, especially alto. I'd say alto is the easiest saxophone to play. I'm not sure about easiest instrument. Also sax is easier than clarinet and some other instruments. The fact that there are many "buttons" does not make it much harder Keep working on those low notes. Long tones really help

With a Saxophone you just have to hold down the right keys, blow properly, and you'll be able to play something. With a little practice almost anyone can play something simple on it and play it in tune. With a violin you have to learn how to hold it (no neck strap if you drop it) it can take a LONG time to learn how to finger the strings with your left hand, longer to finger them in tune. Then yo have to learn how to bow without making a screeching sound or hitting two strings at once. On top of this you have to TUNE it. Violin is hard. Sax can be fairly easy (at least to get started on). Trumpet is in between- hard to get used to lipping the basic notes, but once you get that part learning the valves is easier. For low notes- start with a soft reed- 2 or 2 1/2. I think part of it is learning how to relax your jaw without letting your lips get too loose. Have your teacher try your sax to see if it works- sometimes in there is a leak the low notes just won't play.
