Which flute brand should I buy?

What is a good brand/type of flute to buy?

  • i used to play the flute in school tutoring, but i haven't played for about three years now. im not quite a beginner, but im not the best, so im not sure on what kind of flute to get. i have read lots of reviews and although trevor james flutes sound good, many people didn't have much good to say about them. i have also seen a SMS Academy flute which is in my price range but i have no idea if its any good? can anyone help me? my price range is up to around £250 but ideally less if possible, i know its tight but that is all i can afford. thanks everyone :)

  • Answer:

Yamahas and Gemeinhardt are generally many peoples' first flutes. Theyre relatively inexpensive and aren't bad. Don't go for the cheapest flutes, though. The more you spend on a flute, the easier it will be to play and you're less likely to get frustrated. I'm not saying spend an arm and a leg, but definitely go with the full £250. I'm also from America, so these brands might not apply to you. Sorry about that.
