Can you put a floyd rose tremolo on a guitar without a whammy bar?

  The short answer is no. The long answer is that it is possible, but the amount of custom work that would need to be done would be prohibitively expensive. Not to mention the irreversible nature of the work that would seriously de-value a non trem equipped guitar. The Floyd rose trem would cost at least $150 - $200 depending on the model (new list price) The cost of the modification to the instrument could easily exceed $300 or more! You can buy a new guitar with a floyd rose trem already installed for as low as $200! I bought a Jay Turser that has a Floyd and looks identical to an Ibanez RG series and plays great for $200. You can get an ESP or an Ibanez with a licensed Floyd for as low as $400 for a very nice model. Why ruin a perfectly good guitar buy dumping a bunch of money and work into it, when you can get a great guitar with what you want for less money?!
