Does anyone else laugh at the irony of the question "Anyone know of any good books"?

I think the questions that really make me pause are the ones asking for manuscript ideas. If I have an idea that I like, I won't share it with the asker. I mean, let's be real here. But yes, when it is just that question and there is *nothing* in the question description, it's kind of funny.

I agree. The irony is delicious but the questions are downright annoying. I don't mind so much if people are a bit more specific, "I liked book x, can you recommend something similar?" or "I enjoy books about y and have already read a, b, and c, can you recommend any others?" You're right, it's B&A, of course we know some good books...duh. Cheers.

Trying to figure out what people are looking for based solely on that doesn't do me any good. Working in a library, what I suggest to people as good books doesn't mean I personally like them, thus I need to know more about what they like to read to really be able to help. random observation funny the number of people who answered your question are top contributers. Is it because we know what you're talking about.

I much prefer the irony of the posts titled "I want to be a writer" or "I want to write a story" that then ask for YOUR ideas in the body text.

I always want to say "I don't KNOW any, but I've read a few".....

I've never thought of it before, but now that I do, it's pretty funny. No, as lurkers of the Books and Authors category, we have never read a good book. *rolls eyes*
