What was the Beer Hall or Munich Putsch?

Why did Adolf Hitler hide in the apartment of a Harvard graduate nicknamed "Putzi" after Beer Hall Putsch?

  • who later went on to move back again to the USA and help FDR and US government later? btw, this was a early intimate of Hitler who helped him financially as well as meet the higher ups in Munich society in the 1920s. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernst_Hanfstaengl

  • Answer:

Hitler was facing a potential death sentence or at least a long prison sentence. He had gambled all and lost. He probably would have accepted help from anyone at tha t point. Hitler was also an opportunist and was loyal only to supporters who were committed to him. He was more than happy to turn his back on someone when it suited hi. Also remember that he would not have known who this charecter was going to become. He accepted help from a wealthy individual - something he did again and again. He was not a highly principled or logical individual
