Any studying tips for an AP European History exam?

I am taking an AP european history class, and the AP exam is soon, I need studying tips please?

  • We have a new teacher for my AP european history class, and we have only done 1 FRQ and 1 DBQ starting from the beginning of the year. The AP exam is on Friday, May 11, and she barely handed out a previous AP multiple choice exam from 2004 for us do try, and both AP european history periods didn't do so well in it, if you have any tips or have taken the exam, please give me some advice on what to study because we have not gotten much review, except outlines she assigns every once in a while, and I want to hopefully pass it.

  • Answer:

well we r on the same boat. my advice is that u need to reread those outlines. if u want me to be honest im gonna say its kinda of too late. I did about 15 frq and about 7 dbq's this year. Not only that but we had notes, flashcards, and daily quizzes. Your teacher doesn't seem to have been prepared enough to teach the course.

make sure you pay attention to the details of the essays. if it says compare and contrast the west and the east in 1700. then make sure you both compare and contrast your answer

Get some study guides. Also look for online guides because they will usually give a more in depth breakdown of what your strengths and weaknesses are. For your DBQ there are 6 main points and 3 bonus points as follows: Core points: 1. Has an acceptable thesis that directly addresses the question 2. Uses at least the majority of the documents 3. Addresses all part of the question 4. Demonstrates understanding of the documents by using them to support an arguement (May misinterpret no more than one document) 5. Analyzes point of view or bias in at least three documents 6. Analyzs documents by organizing them in at least three groups Expanded core: Expands byond basic core of 1-6. The basic score of a 6 must be achieved before a student cane arn expanded core points. Examples: Has a clear analytical comprehensive thesis Uses all or almost all douments addresses all parts of the question thoroughly Uses document persuasively as evidence brings in "outside" historical relevance" etc. If you have any question still feel free to ask. As far as FRQs I wouldn't worry about as long as you know the facts. All it really is is answering the questions in a longer form. Also, don't guess unless you've narrowed out a few answers. Wrong answers count against you but it's ok to skip. You want to get at least 68% of the MC questions right to get a 3.

Go to a Barnes and Nobles (or any book store) or even your local library and they should have books that focus on AP exams. If you don't want to spend the money on buying one, get several of them, sit down at a table and devote 2 hours to taking a sample exam. Good luck!

I would have answered but we all already took it! Hopefully you did well. BUT WAIT: if you feel like you totally bombed and screwed up on the test, I forget how, but you can make it so that your score won't be told to colleges and it looks like you never took the test. I'm guessing it might be better to do that if you feel like you didn't do well. Go talk to your counsler, and I really think you should talk to him/her about how that teacher didn't prepare you enough, because that CERTAINLY isn't enough to have given you only 1 DBQ and not reviewed that much with you. Another thing: If you plan to take another AP like AP US History next year, then just remember to get study guides at least a month or two in advance and study it. Do a lot of practice tests and go online. The Sparknotes AP Powerpack has good resources like flashcards and a condensed historical fact sheet to study which REALLY helped me for the Euro test this year (uhh or at least I hope I did well). Just remember that for next year. So basically, if you think you bombed the test, consider revoking your grade. Good luck.
