What are some intresting Facts about WWII that people readlly dont know about a lot?

If you are American, you're best little known fact would be the thousands of high level balloons carrying bombs launch by the Japanese at the US mainland. These balloons caused the death of Americans in only one instance. A reverend and his family on vacation in the pacific northwest were killed when the children were playing with the mine/explosive left by a balloon that reached the US. Also, Japanese gunships fired rounds into the California coast but I do not believe any deaths occurred. You may also be interested in the fact that several German spies set foot in the US with a cache of explosives. They were apprehended shortly after their arrival in the US. The Germans were trying to develop aircraft which could reach the United States and bomb New York City. They developed the single wing aircraft (basically in the shape of our current stealth bomber) for such long bombing raids but they never took place. Some of the German technological advances that effect our daily lives are incredible like the development of the first real maneuverable jet planes and the autobahn which is the basis and inspiration for American interstate highways. There are plenty more facts you can find out about that may not be common knowledge like the two iwo jima flag raisings, the desire for many german generals to join the allies and fight the russians, eisenhower's balance of forces and their successes between the allies to spread the credit of victory, and that Hitler was in advanced stages of Parkinson's disease by the end of the war

Hitler was extremely flatulence....im not kidding too, its actually well documented. ok but anywho heres some facts i can think off of the top of my head. everyone knows that there was alot of technological changes in World War II, especially with nuclear bombs, ballistic missiles, better piston engines, but the invention that actually gave the Allied powers the advantage was the invention of Radar. the Japaneses never were put on trial for war crimes for the massacre of over 10,000,000 just in china alone. (3,000,000 for Indonesians, Koreans, Filipinos) World War II was the first war that civilians were actually targeted on purpose for the reason of strategic value (blowing up factories and all the workers for the factories)
