Where is the Walmart HQ?

Where should I go to buy a tennis racket? Walmart? Big 5?

  • I am buying my first tennis racket! I have a choice of going to Big 5 to buy one or going to Walmart.... which one seems better? If I go to walmart I'll probably end up spending somewhere around $20 and if I go to Big 5 I'll probably end up spending around $30, the rackets are on sale, plus I might buy some dampers... I have went to big 5 twice now and asked q's, can't decide. The one from big five I am thinking about getting is http://big5sportinggoods.shoplocal.com/big5/default.aspx?action=detail&storeid=2503922&rapid=0&listingid=-2091490151&offerid= or I'll end up getting something from http://www.walmart.com/search/browse-ng.do?ic=24_0&ref=125872.330795&catNavId=538537 I don't want tennis elbow, I don't want the frame to die on me either, I want a decent tennis racket to last me about a couple of years. I was told Prince is an excellent brand, so I think I will stick to it, but I have played with good Wilson rackets too... The dilemmas of a small budget.... Thanks for your in

  • Answer:

Between Walmart and Big 5, I would go to Big 5. But if I were you I would go to a tennis-specific store if there are any in your area. Or you can check out Tennis Warehouse online. They are well-priced, have a great selection, and really informative detailed descriptions of all the equipment they sell, so you should be able to make an educated purchase.

When you mentioned Walmart, I presume that you are staying in the US. Well, I think that you could get a good racket on sale from sports stores nationwide. Sometimes, the prices don't go with the quality of the rackets, but oftentimes they do. May I then suggest that you buy a racket the highest price you can afford. But then, you also remember the other things that go with it--guts, balls, case, etc. Good luck to your choice.

Don't go to walmart, your racket wont' last, I would always go to a sporting goods store, and if you want a good racket, which it sounds like you do, then you'll have to spend a little more than you'd like. But if you take care of your racket, as a beginner, it should last you at least 1.5-2 years

I always buy my tennis raquets at Sports Authority. They have great rackets there in all different colors, and sizes. You can buy about any brand there. While your there, check out the clothing section. They have realyyy cute Nike shirts, shorts, sporty pants, jackets, and shoes! Good luck on finding a racket and TENNIS ROX!!! =]

If you start play tennis now go to buy a racket with experienced player or your coach. It is very important step. If you have small budget buy a second hand racket from some tennis club.

you may want to increase your budget a little. if WM or big-5 are your choices,i wouldn't go to Walmart to buy a serious racket. big-5 has better choice, but you need to have a budget between $60 - $90. for example: http://big5sportinggoods.shoplocal.com/big5/default.aspx?action=detail&storeid=2503922&rapid=0&listingid=-2091455858&offerid= Big-5 usually carries heavily discounted last season rackets like this one, which is as good as new models. it is a good idea to buy a vibration damper, make sure you get a good coach or someone can teach you correct form. tennis elbow mainly develop through bad forms, not from racket.1 good luck
