Where is the best city for medical assistant jobs?

How to become an assistant / J.V. high school tennis coach?

  • I am doing my student teaching this spring and I am trying to find a school where I can coach tennis and do my student teaching. I have not been able to find a job coaching though. I just want to be an assistant or j.v coach. In california where I live the job openings are on a website named edjoin.org. I have applied for some but nobody is contacting me or giving me interviews. When I cal or email to check the status of my application they never contact me back. I only had one interview at a school for a head j.v job but I did not get it. The coach told me he wanted somebody with more high school coaching experience. Here is my playing background I played #1 for my high school and was an all conference athlete. I then played 2 years at a community college where I was team captain, team MVP and an all conference athlete both years. I then transferred to an NAIA school that was top 20 in the country both years I played and I was an all conference athlete both years. Here is my coaching background For two years I was an assistant girls varsity coach for a high school in southern california where the team made it to the finals of CIF one year. I was an assistant for for a girls team in Kansas for two years as well. I was a graduate assistant coach for two years for a men's/women's team at a university while I completed my masters degree. I also have worked several Nike tennis camps and camps that universities hold during the summers and winters. I ran the city tennis classes for a city for a year and a half. I also work part time as a tennis instructor at a prive club and I am currently the director for a non-profit tennis organization that gives lesson to underprivileged youth. My question is what do I need to do to make myself attractable to a high school coach. I have applied for about 10 jv/assistant jobs but I have only got one interview and the coach told me I did not have enough experience. I got certified by CIF the other day as a coach so I hope that will help. I also just got my CPR and First Aid certification. Does anybody have advice for me. For every application I do I turn in a resume, cover letter, and 3 letters of recommendation. I have a coaching portfolio but I do not know if that is appropriate when applying for an assistant or j.v. job. I would really appreciate the help. Thanks!

  • Answer:

Just find a student teaching spot at a decent school with a tennis team. Don't worry about the coaching position. Then I think you could be an unpaid volunteer to work with the tennis players when they see your background. Even if not, when you get a permanent teachinig job, then you can apply for tennis coach or assistant. You have far better credentials than I do, and I ended up coaching tennis at two high schools.
