How To Fake An Onside Kick?

What's the general opinion on the Saints onside kick?

I'm a die hard Colts fan, but even though losing sucks, I can accept it when we're simply outplayed. Had the entire 2nd half gone that same way MINUS the onside kick, I'd respect the team, but the moment I saw that play I lost all respect for the Saints in that game. Whether it was win, lose or draw. I'm just one guy though, I know a lot found it brilliant.
