How To Fake An Onside Kick?

Can you fair catch an on-side kick? If so what is the point of an onside kick?

  • Can you fair catch an on-side kick? If so what is the point of an onside kick

  • Answer:

If the ball is kicked in the air and goes ten yards, you can fair catch it. Because of that rule, the kicking teams always kicks the ball into the ground and tries to make it bounce high into the air. You cannot signal for a fair catch after the ball hits the ground.

You can fair catch any kick-off in the air - that's why on-side kicks are almost always kicked hard on the ground (in hopes it will bounce off an opponent and land in the hands of the kicking team).

You can but most on-side kicks hit the ground 1st. In this case, you can't call a fair catch.

if you ball is airborne, you can call a fair catch anytime - on sides kicks are always kicked into the ground so it'll pop up and give the team a chance to recover - if the other team tries to pop it up in to the air, the receiving team can call a fair catch

Yes you can but an onside kick that is done correctly shuold bounce. The point of an onside kick is to attempt to get the ball back in order to try to score when the other ream is up with little time to go. you will never see a lofty onside kick unless the kicker is off balance

in an onside kick the ball is kicked directly into the ground so that it will bounce high for your team to get it. on kickoffs the kicking team can retain possesion of the kick after the ball has went ten yards from the line of scrimmage, whether or not the recieving team touches the ball. this comes in handy when the kicking team needs ball back because of lack of time and timeouts. you can only fair catch the ball while it is in the air, since the ball is kicked directly into the ground it cannot be fair caught

Absolutely if it goes in the air but they are not intended to go in the air. The point is to get the ball back, if it touches a player of the other team or travels over 20 yds it is a fair ball and can be scooped up by your team.

You cannot fair catch on onside kick any more than you can fair catch a kick off the goes the length of the field. If it goes in the endzone you can choose to not run it out and you get to start on the 20 yard line. The point of the on-side kick is that after the ball travels ten yard both teams have a chance to get the ball.

I don't think you can fair-catch, but the point would be the same. It is to try to get the ball instead of the other team getting it.

you can only fair catch a punt. geez, the questions in here.
