What is a better career?

What's better: a long career with lots good stats but few awards or short career but with tons of awards?

  • What's better. A guy who plays 20 to 25 years without winning mvps or individual awards and season accomplishments but still scoring 35,000, 10,000 assists, 10,000 rebs etc. or a guy that has a shorter 10 to 15 year career but wins a ton of mvps, scoring titles, rings, etc? The reason I'm asking is because people like to talk about Kobe not being MJ. While his season averages for almost all the important stats are not as good as MJs I feel like Kobe will have a longer career and accumulate more points, assists, rebs, etc. What do you think?

  • Answer:

Long career with lots of good stats...the longer the career, the more possibility of getting awards or even championships! (Just as long as you're healthy)

i like the longer career. cuz then u do get more chances to win those awards and at the same time make more money. so the obvious one will be the longer career

between mj and kobe things are so much different now than how it used to be, i think everyone wants to win, but there not going to stop if they don't. Nobody will ever be mj, just like how nobody could ever be kobe. Sometimes its not about how much you got but about the game, and that were mj passes kobe(he is so concerned with trying to out due everything, it make me sick)Long carrers are better, there the most memorable

The shorter career is the better player, the longer career is the luckier player.

coqueto

I would rather have the long career.

I would go with the shorter because it will prove that you are a much better player and that you had a direct impact into the game or for your team(s).Take the example of Shaq after 3 seasons in the NBA he brought his team (Orlando) to the NBA Finals, an even better example is Tim Duncan or even Dwayne Wade, a championship ring and an Finals MVP awards in 3 years into the league, just shows how good of a player he is. And they are plenty like that. So as long as you pile up awards, I believe the shorter option is the best.
