How do you know what true love is?

What is love and how do you know if it is true ?

  • Everyone uses this word "love" so often now that perhaps no one really thinks about what actually love is...and they just say it without feeling it.... how would you explain " love " and how do you know that it is true and genuine ? Thank you. Keep :)

    Love is between mother and child or between parents and child, love is between two friends, between teacher and student, between siblings, and ofcourse between you and your special someone. It is difficult to define Love. The dictionary says ~ "Love is an emotion of strong affection and personal attachment"~. And I agree with it. For, I'm attached to every single person I love. Since, here you are talking about true & genuine love, so I assume, you are talking about the Love between you and your special person because for most of the people love for parents is genuine for they share the bond with them since their birth and with friends also, love is genuine for most people (Provided you are an authentic person yourself who value your friends). Love has many facets. On a spiritual note, Love is to discover the spark of God in the other person. Love doesn't mean, to help someone or just being good with someone, because then you are seeing yourself as a wise and a generous human being. Spiritual experience is the practical experience of Love. The more we love, the closer we come to the practical experience of Love. Those who love conquer all and have no fear of loss. It is an act of total surrender. :) The other is Physical Love. I believe, Physical love is the result of the love when the feeling of love and affection is already developed towards a particular person. However, those who relate Love only with Physical love owe it to their narrow thinking. So how do I define Love? Love is when you think of the person 24/7 and still can't get bored of it, It is when you have found not ONLY love inside him but a close companion too and know you want his presence there always, It is when you wake up every morning just to realise that you were destined to meet him. Alright, it is maybe when you realise that the 'feeling' of being dearly 'loved' by somebody out there in the entire world is fabulous. Well, in simple terms I would say, Love is when you take a pen to jot down the feeling on a piece of paper but, Oh God, it is so damn overwhelming, that you just can't describe it in simple words. :D Oohhh!, difficult isn't it? Oh well, its blind quite literally you see. No wait, I'm kidding! How do I know whether it is True or Genuine? Yeah, now that is even more difficult to answer. All I would say is, you realise it is True, when being with the person just feels right within. You know, when your inside just rings a bell? and YES, I do feel right from inside with him! :)

A long time ago I thought that love was something that you reserved for some special set of people that you had judged worthy of it. After a while I got to thinking about what Jesus had said about turning the other cheek and loving our neighbor I put the two together and realized that he had made no exceptions in these statements. It became obvious to me that he intended that we exclude no one from the love that we are supposed to be giving. I started thinking about my idea of love and suddenly realized that I had not been loving anyone at all. I had simply been judging everyone and every thing. Judging someone worthy of love is not love, it is only judgment. I actually started to cry when I realized this. I saw just how much of my life I had wasted being judgmental, thinking of myself as a Christian, when I was actually doing just the opposite of what Jesus had asked us to do. I thought about the verse judge not lest ye be judged, and I understood it for the first time. I realized that I have a lot of catching up to do. So many opportunities were wasted. I now try to apply the love that I have for the world in a universal way like Jesus asks us to do. If I start to feel afraid and think that I see someone that I should not love because of something I have thought or heard I try to catch my mistake as soon as possible. I tell myself that I have forgot the truth and have fallen for the same old trick that had cost me so many opportunities to be loving in the past. The horror of this realization is often all that is necessary to bring me back to my senses and make me drop the judgmental nonsense I was thinking. What is love and how do you know if it is true ? ~~~ First, everything is True! Every Perspective/percept is a very real and unique feature of an ALL inclusive Reality! It's ALL True! Now, about love, I had no clue what love is when I was a toddler. Without thoughts of love (feelings are thoughts) I couldn't differentiate it from the rest of existence! As a teenager, I thought that I finally knew Love! As the years went by, I found myself thinking that "Aha! THIS is Love! Love is like an itch, if you feel/perceive it, then it exists and is True! What is Love? It is the sum-total of every Perspective (whether infant, dog, teen, senior, anyone..) of the One love! It's all True! "The complete Universe (Reality/Truth/God/'Self!'/Tao/Brahman..… or any feature herein...) can be defined/described as the synchronous sum-total of all Perspectives!" - Book of Fudd ALL INCLUSIVE!!! All love is 'Self!' love! All judgment is 'Self!' judgment! All hate is 'Self!' hate! All knowledge is 'Self Knowledge'!!! "The eye by which I see God is the same as the eye by which God sees me. You know it! It need not to be explained. Many times, when you see romantic movie.. or you feel that someone's heart is broken .. or you see a happy couple and say that they are in love! The true form is "giving" or "selflessness" and truest form is god's love for us!
