How do you do Mole conversions?

Mole-to-Mole Conversions.............Help?

  • For the reaction shown, calculate how many moles of each product form when the following amounts of reactants completely react to form products. Assume that there is more than enough of the other reactant. C3H8(g) + 5O2(g) -----> 3CO2(g) + 4H2O(g) (a) 4.6 mol C3H8 (b) 4.6 mol O2 (c) 0.0558 mol C3H8 (d) 0.0558 mol O2 Thank you!

  • Answer:

    Each mole of C3H8 produces 3 moles of CO2 and 4 moles of H2O. So 4.6 moles of C3H8 produces 4.6*3 moles CO2 and 4.6*4 moles H2O 5 moles O2 produce 3 moles CO2 and 4 moles H2O. Moles of CO2 = 3/5 * moles of O2. Moles of H2O = 4/5 * moles of O2 The next two are the same way, (c) 0.0558 * 3 for CO2 and 0.0588*4 for H2O; (d) 3/5 * 0.0588 for CO2 and 4/5 * 0.0588 for O2
