What is a compound and why is it not a mixture?

What are three differences between a compound and a mixture?

  • Please I really need to know 3 differences between a compound and a mixture. PLEASE!!!!! I need it a.s.a.p.

  • Answer:

compound is a chemically combined while a mixture is physically combined. for mixture, little or no heat is used to create it while for compounds,it heat or light energy is given out or taken in and for compound,it has a chemical reaction that makes it hard for it to turn back to normal and has to use chemical methods such as or thermal decomposition electrolysis and does not necessary have the properties or the substance used for the compound while a mixture could be separated, turned back to normal using physical methods such as magnets, evaporation, distillation and has the properties or the two substances that made it

a compound always results from combination due to cheical change. the chemical properties of substances change when they undergo chemical reaction, that is donation and sharing of bonding electrons. so carbon dioxide is a compound since one carbon atom shares electrons with two oxygen atoms. a mixture demonstrates only changes in the physical properties of the mixing substances. sugar in water only makes the water sweet, but it is still just H20 mixed with molecules of sugar gone extremely tiny due to dissolution. no electron bonding. A compound is only a certain type of combination of different elements, such as CO2. A mixture is 2 or more elements or compounds mixed together but not chemically combined (such as air). I really hope this helps!!

Compounds are bonded atoms. Mixtures are just stuff thrown together. Pretty much any two materials can be thrown together to make a mixture. Most combinations of atoms will not form compounds. Even though the list of possible compounds is very large, the list of impossible compounds is infinitely larger. Mixtures can be mechanically separated. Compounds require a chemical reaction to separate.

A compound is defined as any two species chemically combined whereas a mixture is a bunch of species moving past each other w/o chemically combining. Kind of confusing and hard to process isn't it?! Chem is hard. Think of it like amonnia NH3 compared to N and the H and H and H not combining under the "right conditions"

a compound is many things put into different piles a mixture is those many things mixed together in one [pile

a compoud is two or more chemicals chemically combined while a mixture is two substances just mixed together.
