How does salt affect the rate of corrosion and why?

Does the temperature of water affect salt dissolving in it?

  • If you had cold water and hot water, which would have a faster rate of dissovling the same amount of salt? Would this difference be significant?

  • Answer:

Hotter water dissolves salt faster. If you had a thing of hot water and one of cold water, the salt would dissolve faster in the hot.

Is this a science homework question? It sounds like it. Sounds like my science unit too... Yes it does. Have you ever tried salt water (not the salt water ocean kind. The kind you gargle with) and watched the salt dissolve in HOT water? Within 30 seconds of being mixed, it's dissolved. When you do the same thing with COLD water, it takes a bit longer. The HOT water collects the salt, and in a way, swallows it. The salt in the COLD water just floats around for a while. I hope I helped!
