I have a rolex, I received as a gift, and I can't tell if it's real. Can you help?

I would contact Rolex customer service and ask them what the best way to solve your problem would be. At least you would know for sure what the best way is to determine whether it is genuine or not. You can't rely on jewelers because some of them are crooks themselves!

Yea, take it to an authorized rolex dealer - they can run their own tests to see the authenticity of it

You can look up the serial number or another easy way to to look at how the arms move , rolex watches dont tick they move smoothly unlike regular watches

if you have a woman around that is wearing makeup and you rub the band on her face and it doesn't leave a black mark its fake- not joking, you can do this trick with rings, braclets, ect. something to do with the material of the gold, stainless steel. weird but true!

Go to a jeweler.

Try a place that specilaizes in Rolex to be certain. Since a "cheap" Rolex is close to $8000, I kinda doubt you have a real one.

Take it to a Rolex dealer, have them remove the back and read the serial number. Then have them verify the serial number with Rolex. Maybe it is hot.

Take a trip to Switzerland.
