How can I get an overseas job as a civil engineer?

I am a Civil Engineer with a 10 years of experience in bridge and road construction. how to get a job in US?

  • I have executed two major road bridges in India. I have formed new roads to length of 10Km and renewed roads to a length of 125 Km. With this experience can i get a job in the same profession in US.

  • Answer:

You could apply with one of the large construction companies who work internationally, or you could apply to the Department of Transportation (DOT) of the states in which you would like to work/live. All these can be found on the Internet and I'm sure you are computer savvy. Good luck.

It's going to be somewhat challenging. For a US employer to hire you, they must demonstrate there is nobody with US citizenship qualified and able to fill a job position. At that point, if you are qualified, you will be hired, and eventually become a US citizen. Rest assured that companies do post job advertisements with intent that nobody from the US qualifies to get that job.

Your skill set and experience is valuable. Infrastructure repair and construction is and will be needed for a long time both here in the US and elsewhere around the world.
