How much can you make with a master's degree in electrical engineering?

Can I do a bachelors in Mechanical engineering and then a masters in Petroleum Engineering?

  • I am a student in England doing A-levels and applying to university this year.I want to get a career in petroleum engineering but I think it would be better for to apply for a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering first. The reason for this is because the course is very diverse and I do not want to close any doors for me in the future. I wanted to know if it is possible to transition from a bachelors in mechanical engineering to a masters in pertroleum engineering. Are the two courses so different to each other that it cannot be done? Or are they linked because they are both engineering degrees? I am aware of majoring in certain subjects to make the change but is it enough? If so can you explain which subjects would be best to major in? Thanks

  • Answer:

Yes but you will have to take some supplemental undergraduate classes to in subjects like geology, chemistry etc. It is actually easier to go from chemical engineering to petroleum engineering. There are some universities in the US that provide a combination degree.
