simply Jhakkas if u do it sincerely... (Do it if you feel to do it..Chmeical engineering is not only about chemistry..its engineering, the application of science... Don't think about salary honestly... Whole petrochemical industries (Reliance, schlumberger, and they give heavy packages) are there for you and also lots of very good options In fact, this stream is one of the best in the field of engineering:)

I'm not sure about India, but in America, ChE is the 2nd highest paid mainstream engineering major as far as starting salary and average salary goes, second to petroleum eng. However, oil is a lucrative industry in the U.S.; ExxonMobile is the second largest company by revenue in the world, and many high-revenue companies are in the oil industry. I don't know how big of an oil industry India has. Other industries such as plastics and pharmaceuticals also use ChE's. If you like chemistry more than computer engineering then I encourage you to pursue ChE, although it's probably more important what schools are available to you and how good their department is in the major you want. I'm currently an undergraduate in ChE. It requires you to be good in not only chemistry but also math.
