What is the chance of being hired as a chemical engineer?

If i fail the easiest test in highschool physics then have no chance in engineer?

  • i really wanted to major electrical or mechanical engineer. but i failed the easiest first test in highschool physics. i am senior in highschool right now.. i will go to junior college and transfer to 4 year. i always struggled alot in math and science.. and right now i am really struggling in physics, i am extremely depressed and sad about the test result because i put effort to it and also studied for quite long time. also solved every worksheet problem teacher told me to. can i still able to success if i major engineer? i know engineer requires extreme high math and physics, which i suck at both.. what's your advice and suggestion? can i major in engineer and become successful?

    For electrical engineering you don't need crazy math skills as much as you need logic skills like stated above. Mechanical engineering is actually the most math intensive engineering study. So if you are good at solving puzzles, electrical is probably a better fit but if you are more into the math go for mechanical. Ask yourself this first Do you enjoy learning math and physics? If you say no then bail and try to figure out what you really like to do. There is nothing worse then doing something for a living that you hate. If your answer is yes then you still have a chance. Maybe you weren't in the best learning environment. I'm almost done with my engineering degree and I must say I was not really prepared for all the math and physics for it coming out of high school. You realize that when you start but College offer a lot of help to students who need to catch up. I had great professors who would spend time on me individually in college and got me through calculus and physics which I had no idea about coming in. So if you really have a desire to learn the material and enjoy the process of learning you can do it. But if it's painful for you study it then stay away.

All that high school physics really requires math wise is the ability to work the trig on right angle triangles and manipulating formulas, basically grade nine stuff. If you are having trouble with it you need some serious help to work out whatever your issues with it are before you can think about becoming an engineer. Someone probably taught it wrong and messed up your thinking, it can usually be fixed.

What a coincidence. I'm a electrical engineering major and I just failed my first digital logic design test! Well that was because I couldn't study as much as I wanted. Let me tell you, electrical engineering is ALL MATH ALL THE TIME!!!! Take a few general math/physics/engineering courses in junior college. If you still can't master it then, it's time to go to another major.

you need a lot of math, not so much for the math itself, as for the training to think logically. You need to rethink your career goals. What made you think you wanted to be an engineer? think that over carefully, talk to a career guidance councellor. If you want to continue, you need to look at extra courses or other help. .

If you do not have an aptitude for engineering, then it does not make sense to become an engineer. Perhaps your parents want this? You need to do something that YOU like to do. I would suggest some kind of professional job with strong vocational overtones, such as being an optometrist. That job is easy to study for, and makes good money. Your career guidance counselor will tell you how to become one.

If physics does not come naturally to you, then you have to put a lot more effort into it. If that doesn't work then you should find another profession. This is like a person with no people skills working as a salesperson.
