How To Make Tesla Generator?

Static Electricity: How big is the biggest spark a person could make by accident?

  • By walking on carpets or sliding on seat cushions? Anything a person might do in ordinary living. How high of a static spark can they generate? And under what conditions? Is it possible to make enough static to break a cell phone, CD player, camera, or other portable electronic device? I mean by yourself, not counting using a static generator like a Tesla coil.

  • Answer:

Well you can't really short out a cell phone or electronic device unless you had a generator. I think the biggest charge is generated with cloth pants on the seat of your car. If you have a bad static charge it's possible to ignite a gas pump and have it explode (of course this is rare and can be avoided by reading all safety signs and NOT getting back into your car WHILE the gas is pumping).

I think I once read that 10,000 volts makes a spark about an inch long. Like from your finger to the doorknob. The amperage is low of course, but you could feasibly damage a chip, connection, or other component of any electronic device. Feasible is the operative.

it is very unlikely you will destroy anything. there is high voltage but low current. you would also probably accidentally discharge in the mean time. if it was big enough it would probably spark to the carpet.

Static electricity is powerfull, if you keep rubbing your feet on carpet for long enough you can generate enough volts to start a car battery.
