  • we use go/no go gage for screw inspection but we have several stage in reach to final product this mean that after we produce screws we coat them but we use 6g/6h go and nogo gage in both stage is it true or no? and if we must use another class of gages please help me

  • Answer:

They've probably already thought of this. The coating could be negligible in the final use of the screw by the customer... it often gets wiped off, the film serves as an anti-seize, lock-tite situation, or the coating serves simply as a protectant. If you're inspecting at two stages midway in the process, then it's being tested at enough points to produce a good product. In your favor, though, there should probably be a nogo guage toward/or at the final stage of production of the parent metal regardless of the coating.

It depends on the tolerance of your threads and of the coating. Use the machinery handbook.
