An ac source produces a current of 0.04a at a frequency of 4.8 kHz when attached to a 232 ohms resistor and a 0.25 uF capacitor that are connected in a series. Calculate a) the voltage of the AC source and b) the phase angle between the current and the voltage of the AC source?

Answer:
Xc = 1/ [(6.28)*(4,800)*(.00000025)] = 133 Ohms Z = 232/[cos (arc tan -133/232)] = 267 Ohms ac source Voltage = (A)*(Z) = (.04A)*(267 Ohm) = 10.7 Volts Phase angle = arc tan -133/232 = - 29.8 degrees
