How do you wish somebody on Navratri in Gujarati?

It's that time of year again. How do you wish somebody a Happy New Year in your language?

  • How do you wish somebody a Happy New Year in your language (or any other language you speak)? Here are mine: English: Happy New Year! Czech: Šťastný nový rok! Spanish: ¡Prospero año nuevo! German: Alles Gute im neuen Jahr! What about you? Thanks.

  • Answer:

Godt Nytt År! Be sure to make a pork or lamb dinner and hide an almond in some rice pudding - it's traditional. Also, tonight children will go from house to house and sing songs in exchange for candy. Kind of like Halloween in the US, but without the costumes and a hell of a lot colder. This tradition is called nyttarsbukk. In some places the adults dress up and go visiting and have cocktails and/or take snaps with friends and neighbors. All in all, the new year is a pretty casual affair in Norway for most people.
