Why URDU speakers not familiar in muslims of Kerala?

Urdu and Hindi speakers: is this 'kitaab' a specific book ? ..? ...?

  • Dear Hindi and Urdu-speaking friends on YA: In the following two sentences, reference is made to 'kitaab'. In each of these sentences, is this 'kitaab' some book in particular, or does it refer to books in general? 1) us laRkii ne kitaab bechnii chaahii = She wanted to sell *THE* book, or she wanted to sell *A* book, (some book or another)? Or are both meanings possible? 2) vah laRkii kitaab bechnaa chaahtii hai. = She wants to sell *THE* book, or She wants to sell *A* book ? Or are both meanings possible?

  • Answer:

i think both meanings are possible for both sentences. the actual meaning [whether particular book or just any], you will either need to add some qualifiers, or the previous/following sentences will provide the context. and a more literal translation would be 1) that girl wished to sell a book 2) that girl wishes to sell a book hope tis helps? all the best again :-)
