Why the night is black?

Why do sky appears black during night?

  • among 7 spectral colours, black is not one among them. but why sky appears black in night?

  • Answer:

for this you will have to understand that why the day sky is blue and not white!!!!! see..... at the day time there are particles in the sky (may be vapour or any other particles). what they do is they reflect the sun light. they reflect there colours (what so ever there colours may be) but there over all effect is blue. now the question arises that why only blue. that is because blue has the highest frequency. so we see the day sky blue. one more thing the blue colour of sky depends upon the viewing angle also. you may notice that the colour of the sky at your top is faded while at the corners it is darker blue. now coming to your question. at the night time there isn't enough light that can be reflected and then reach to our eyes. so we don't see any colour. now you tell me if we don't see any colour then what colour we can see. actually saying that we see a black COLOUR is wrong. because it isn't any colour. it is the absence of any light. so we see black sky at the night. hope this helped.

because there is no light source for any other color besides the sky so no source = black because black is nothing.

Black is the absence of light. At night there isn't much light so the sky appears black because there is no light reflecting off of it.

If we are on such part of earth that is away from the range of light reflection ,we will not see anything here or in sky.

There's not enough light to illuminate it. Black is indeed not a colour, it is an absence of light. For the sky to be lit, there must be a light source. In daytime, this is the Sun. Rayleigh scattering of sunlight makes the sky blue, as seen from the ground. At night there is no sunlight to do this, and the small amount of light from the planets and stars isn't enough to colour the sky. Sometime, though, a brightly lit moon can have a halo, due to atmospheric conditions. This appears as a hazy ring around the moon.

during the day, the dust particles which form a colloidal solution in the air, diffract the light coming from the sun. hence the sky appears blue. but at night there is no sunlight ...and we see the colour of the space beyond! space appears black because there is nothing to reflect the light. an object is visible only when it reflects light and there is nothing in space to reflect the light from the stars ,hence space ie vacuum appears black.this is what we see at night.

NATALIE

Black color is seen when when no light is reaching the eyes Black objects absorb the light incident on it completely and reflect no light so as there is no light at night in the sky so no light enters the eye and thus the sky is seen black

Because at that the region of the earth in which we are living is just opposite to the face of the sun and thus there is no light coming in the night.

black is the absence of light, and there's no light produced by the sun at night. therefore, there's no light and hence black.

Some thing should be there to reflect light properly. When we do not have such kind of light like Sun sky appears black in light.
