How many train stations are there in Sheffield?

Which train is nearer to Sheffield when they meet?

  • Sheffield is 100 miles from Worcester. At 1 pm Train A leaves Sheffield for Worcester and travels at a constant speed of 30 mph. One hour later Train B leaves Worcester for Sheffield and travels at a constant speed of 40 mph. Each train makes one stop only at a station ten miles from its starting point and remains there for fifteen minutes. Which train is nearer to Sheffield when they meet?

  • Answer:

This is a trick question, when they meet, they'd both be in the same spot, and thus the same distance from anywhere. Unless that is that you take into accout the remaining carraiges. If so, then Train A, which left Sheffield, would be closer
