What are 4 differences of asexual reproduction and sexual reproduction?

What ate the differences between the asexual and sexual reproduction?

  • Answer:

Sexual reproduction happens any time that two gametes join together. It doesn't matter whether there is one parent or if there are two parents. That really doesn't have anything to do with the definition. In mammals there are separate sexes - male and female - and the gametes are the eggs and sperms. But some lower animals make both eggs and sperms and the sperms can fertilize eggs from the same animal. That is still sexual reproduction because two gametes are joining together. When apple trees are pollinated by bees so the trees will produce seeds, that's sexual reproduction. It doesn't matter if the bee carries pollen to another tree, another flower on the same tree, or to the female part of the same flower. It still involves a sperm nucleus joining with an egg nucleus and that's sexual reproduction. Asexual reproduction is when a new organism is produced without gametes joining together. Asexual reproduction happens when cells multiply by mitosis. (Meiosis makes the gametes for sexual reproduction.) When a sponge grows a bud that becomes a new sponge, the parent sponge's cells make the bud using cell division that involves mitosis. No cells join. Cell's copy the nuclear material and split into two daughter cells. When a plant is dug up, cut in half, and the two halves replanted to make two plants, that is asexual reproduction. When an amoeba splits into two amoebae, that is asexual reproduction. The main advantage of sexual reproduction is that the offspring have variation. They are not all alike. That means that some of them may be able to survive environmental changes when the rest of the offspring die. The main advantage of asexual reproduction is that it is fast. Many offspring can be made in a short time. However, the offspring are all alike, so changes in the environment may kill them all.
