Depo Provera Birth Control Shot?

Depo-Provera Birth Control Shot?

  • I am getting married in 2weeks, starting birth control tomorrow! (and I know I know late start, but its better then never right?!) Anyways, Ive been reading about the Depo-Provera, and it fully takes effect 7-days after the injection! But I have another question, other birth controls cause continuous blood flow (Like your period) for close to 3weeks... does the Depo-provera do the same thing?

  • Answer:

It depends. For some people they do experience irregular bleeding, however many can find it even makes periods lighter. When i was on it i suffered irregular bleeding however it was extremely irregular, not that i would bleed for 3 weeks constantly but at two to three day intervals for around two weeks. However it was really light so it didn't bother me. It's really a case by case sort of thing, try it and see whether it works for you. btw congrats on your marriage!
