American cartoons vs Japanese cartoon?

I like plenty from both. I've always watched anime and of course american cartoons and I still do and probably always will (and when I'm a mom I will use the excuse that I'm making sure it's safe for my kid haha) I think it's unreasonable and childish when anime fans get mad at someone who doesn't know much about it when they call it a cartoon.... I mean, anime IS cartoons, and it's unfair to think EVERYONE should know how anime fans like to call it. Though I do understand they get angry cause some people go "oh it's just kiddy cartoons that you should have grown out of when you entered 5th grade" yknow? Anime is just the Japanese term for animation of all kind, we just use it in english to differentiate it. Same thing with manga, manga is japanese for "comic" so it's stupid to get mad when someone calls it a comic. Honestly the biggest issue I have with anime is that the fans can be unreasonable and ridiculous a lot when it comes to people who don't know about it.

Anime. I just really don't like the look of American animation, especially when it tries to copy the Japanese style. Most American animation lacks an overall story and character development, also.

I prefer anime and the CLASSIC american cartoons like Johnny Bravo, Dextors Laboratory, Angry Beavers, etc. American cartoons now seriously suck.

I like Japanese cartoons better than American cartoons. The Japanese cartoon producers just seem to put much more effort into their cartoons in about every aspect. The characters are better, the story is better and most of the time original, the fight scenes if any are always better when they are Japanese made. Animes that are made for people that are mature, always have some sort of deep, intriguing, mostly meaning storyline that is entertaining and emotional. Whereas I find that American cartoons that are for mature people(15+) are meaningless, very stupid, pointless and nearly always filled with over the top sexual references/jokes and just too much swearing, because it seems the makers think when you have these you are automatically comedy gold. e.g South Park, Drawn Together. They have no storylines whatsoever and the characters are very shallow. I don't really care if people call Anime cartoons cause that's what they really are, however I do get irritated when people say "Anime? That's like for 8 year olds, grow up man".

Depends on the storyline and subject matter as to which I like better. There's a lotta good of both. And I don't give a crap who whines and moans if I call somethin anime or cartoon. I'll call it what I like and they can either STFU on their own, or get shut up by force.
