What is a really good animation program?

How do you animate in 2D and what is a good program for 2D animation?

• I'm new to animating videos and I want to start off with 2D animation. Do you know of any good 2D animation programs that work, is fairly cheap, and is good for beginners? Also, does anyone have any tips for animating?

  Flash is good from time to time for 2D animations but there have been some books that suggest ToonBoom for these kind of things. The best tip I can give you is that if you are going to create an animation is to first create a storyboard of how you want things to come together -- a storyboard is like a rough layout of your project. The Complete Guide to Anime Techniques is a helpful book because it has a section on some animation software for 2D and 3D animations.
