Were you ever in the National Spelling Bee?

  • I was in the 2008 bee. I was speller 158 representing the Asbury Park Press/Home News Tribune from North Brunswick, NJ. Unfortunately, I didn't make it this year (2009), but I still have one more year left and I'm studying really hard! It was an amazing experience and the most fun week of my life. I got bored and couldn't sleep:) so I was wondering, have you ever been to the National Spelling Bee?

    That is wonderful.. You did very well. My spelling isn't that great but I keep working on it. Thank goodness for spell checker. I watched the finals on TV. We love it but it is very hard on the finalists who don't make it. I hope they know how proud everyone watching is of them, even if they don't win because they do such a great job to get that far as you did. Keep up the good work and maybe we will be watching you this next year. So proud of you for your dedication to study. ;-)

SRRY I'm on that RED BULL ssweettiieee... :) But seriously in 7th grade I won the spelling bee contest, and it's crazy because I used to always get bad grades and fail classes! I surprised everybody in the school that time. All my teachers were looking at me like, "you won the spelling bee!?". I wuz sick wit it!!! GREAT JOB KEEP IT UP KID! peace yo I'm out.....

My primary school asked another girl and I to go. The girl went, but I couldn't because I didn't have a guardian to give me permission. :( That was a loooong time ago! 2002 probably. :)

I have never been to a spelling bee as either a contestant or an audience member. Also, my spelling isn't that great.

Misspelled words are one of my biggest pet peeves. I won a lot of grade school competitions, but back then there weren't any big contests to enter. I would have loved it! I bet it is an amazing experience.
