Ebay -- item never received. lost in mail. what can i do?

File a charge back with your bank. They should be able to get your money back. Never failed with me before. There are some not so great sellers out there. They don't have proof that it was delivered to you, so you should be able to get it back from PayPal. Be sure to dispute the charge with your bank!

I think that sender should be responsible. This happened to me once, too. I made the seller return my money, and told him that if I got my item later on, I would return it, but it never came, so it was his fault.

Relax! You are protected and worse case you can get your money back from Paypal. Items are rarely lost, especially USPS so likely it is delayed due to the Christmas backlog. However if the tracking indicates it arrived in NJ on 21 dec then it's possible it was either lost or someone signed for it. Be patient, let the seller do their investigation and if they can't find anything then get them to send another item. They will usually prefer to send another item than issue a refund so work with them and try not to piss them off. If they are not cooperating after a couple of weeks then file a report and get your money back. Just be patient and work together. Your money is safe.

REPORT TO EBAY THEY HAVE INSURANCE FOR THATS STUFF.

im assuming you used a credit card to make the purchase..contact them make a dispute they will get itdone for u..if not then yes the usps is responsible.there bull shittin# u if theytracked it to there then it should have also been tracked to your address.contactpaypal ask them ..hey sorry seller but if i didnt getwhat i paid for then i would..i wouldntmake me spend more money though iits 80 dollars not worth a lawyer..lol but credit card dispute it? steve ps was it insured by seller

If you didn't pay for postal insurance and he has proof he mailed it, then you wont get anything back.

There should be a # on the customs form that can help you track it. it might be lost in the US- not Hong Kong. That does suck, but ask yourself what would you do in this case if you were the seller? Would you pay an international buyer a refund if the post office lost your package? I wouldn't give up just yet though. Ask the seller for the customs form # and call USPS cutomer service phone # (go to USPS.com) Secondly, I'm sure you know, but I wouldn't ever buy a high dollar item from overseas again. Too risky. UPDATE TO ANSWER: That's GOOD. It's right by you now. If you were able to track it to New Jersey, it will probably be there any day now. And now you know for sure that the seller did ship it and it's almost there.
