Can I use XBOX controller to play Battlefield 2 PC?

Is it possible to hook up my xbox controller to play battlefield 2 from my PC if so how would I do so Thanks

Answer:
Yes, BUT I highly advise against it. ------------------- If you do want to play bf2 with your xbox stick, you need an xbox controllerport-to-usb/serial port cable (on ebay, or make one yourself) and a program that can recognize the controller's inputs in windows (its somewhere on the internet, look for it) to be able to actually use your controller. BUT, like I said, I would not encourage you to use it on bf2, because you will be whupped. ------- Unlike Modern Combat, BF2 has more buttons than you can shake a stick at. You have weapon slots, cycle weapon, vehicle slots, parachute, countermeasures, map, map zoom, Kit swap, Afterburners, crouch, prone, sprint, jump, commander VOX, Squad VOX, reload, cycle views, et al. Your Xbox has at most six buttons, two paddles, a d pad, and two Analogs. Lets say the six ones are :Reload, Crouch or prone (but not both, because of limited availability), zoom, jump, Enter vehicle, and Kit swap; your paddles are fire and spring; your a-logs are for walking and looking, and the d-pad are the four primary weapons (knife, pistol, gun, gernade). Your sticks aren't really analog because that was not built into the game, its only walk and run. Your looking is also slower than mouse speed, so you will lose in firefights, and you will take longer to snipe. Your d-pad has only four slots, and the more intense kits have 4+ items (Med: 4primarys+heal bag+paddles, both very important; Sup: 4+supply bag, VIP; Spec: 4+C4/Detonator, super important; Eng:4+Wrench+Mines; Sniper: 4+Claymores), so you will be crippled or slow when you need to switch weapons (and you can't custom map the pad per kit, not possible in the control section of the options). More importantly, you have no access to the Comma and Command Rose. Since Bf2 is more collective fighting that is more teambased, the Roses were created to help efficiently communicate quick commands and phrases to fellow members or to delegate requests or commands to the squad and commander. This is only possible with the Keyboard and mouse setup. If you can't use the roses, you can't ask for med bags, ammo, or backup, or to follow you or go. More importantly, you can't effectively spot enemy troops and vehicles for the rest of the team, which can lead to more ticket loss. Given that you can't communicate anything to your team quickly, and you can't fire/kill optimally, you will essentially be the most wasted/unreliable/useless member of a squad, and of a team. The only, and I stress, ONLY viable place for a gamepad like the Xbox one on BF2 is to pilot the aerial vehicles. Thats because the functions on those are more limited and you will be able to use the analog for control of those vehicles which is usually better than the Kybrd or MouseKybrd setup. Otherwise, its just a niche controller. ---- Bf2 was engineered for the PC, BF2:Modern Combat for the Consoles. In contrast, Halo was created for Xbox and was ported to the PC, with no trouble because of the simple number of buttons on in the game. I have already administered tests with Halo on the PC, where we pitted Mouse/Keyboard gamers against gamers with an Xbox controller hooked up to the computer. The Mouse gamers won hands down, even in matches where the Xbox gamers had handicap points. From these results, I can infer that If there was a scenario in Strike At Karkand where it was gamepad players to the MouseKey players, The MK people will win. ----- In summary, just play with the normal setup. You'll shoot better, and your'll be a better commodity to the team, which will get you more points in end.

OK. To use an Xbox Controller on your PC, you're going to need to go to eBay and look up like "Xbox PC Adapter" They have like USB adapters that allow you to plug the controller into your PC and game out with style

Yes, you actually can hook up your xbox controller to your pc. However, you need an adapter to do it. One end of the cord will plug into the xbox controller. The other end is a usb plug that plugs into the pc. There is some software that you can install that will allow you to tell the pc which buttons on the xbox controller will do what for your pc game. I actually use mine to play Halo PC. It is great to use, and I found one here on ebay just to prove they do exist: http://cgi.ebay.com/u90-XBox-Controller-to-PC-USB-Adapter-adaptor_W0QQitemZ8277978140QQcategoryZ20385QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
