Question about GTA San Andreas please?

I'm playing GTA San Andreas on my PC and i cannot get to recruit gang members. My controls are "G" to engage/recruit gang members, "H" to disengage. But anytime i press it, it doesn't do anything. They just seem to jst look at me in a way. My respect is about 90%... must i have a full respect to recruit? NOTE: I am playing with a PC and this is not making me complete a mission, titled: "Los Desperados". Thanks in advance.

I use play this game long time ago but here goes u have aim gun at them not shoot when green pointer comes on top start pressing g and they will nod u must have a gun of some kind just dont shoot some will agree some will wont and they must be wearing green if u grove street i think
