The sims 3 download for mac?

my friend has the sims 3 and i've played on her computer once, i want to buy it on Origin's/EA's online store but the only platform available is the PC one? http://store.origin.com/store/eaemea/en_IE/DisplayProductDetailsPage/ThemeID.850300/productID.105153500 Why isn't there a MAC platform!? and i don't want to buy the CD because it occupies space (i don't have much space in my room) tell me if there is anywhere where i can buy it as a digital download! :)
