Does the Guitar Hero guitar work with the Rock Band games for Playstation2?

My son has the original guitars for Guitar Hero made by Playstation 2, Will the Newer Rock Band games play with the guitar hero guitar? He owns both the Guitar Hero 1 & 2 guitars- My question is - If I buy him the New Rock Band game- if the guitar hero guitar will work with the Rock Band game. (all PS2) Thanks!
