How can I make stylish jewelry with little kid-type beads?

Somebody gave me a whole bunch of beads. The kind little kids use to make jewelry...I am 16. Is there any way I can make stylish, more sophisticated jewelry from these beads?

Are you talking about Pony/Kandi Beads? Here is one idea; It looks like it says that they used leather string, and then placed a couple of beads to make a rainbow.
