What to put in a welcome bag?

What should you put in a "Big Sister" gift bag.?

  • I have a friend who is having a baby boy (today!!). She already has a three year old little girl who is now the big sister. I wanted to put together a little gift bag for her (the bag is just a plain canvas bag that says "The Big Sister Bag"), so she didn't feel left out. What kinds of things should I put in her bag? THANKS!!

    I agree with Tara. The best big sister thing you could give her is a doll and all the accessories to pretend with like diapers, fake powder, baby bottle, blanket, etc. She will want to pretend she has a baby, too, just like Mom.

I would see if you can find some type of big sister T-shirt for her. Or you could get a plain T-shirt and some fabric paint and make one yourself. Then I would put in various toys such as books, dolls, crayons, etc. I think it's very sweet and thoughtful of you to include the big sister.

maybe a special book she can "read" to her new sibling... a t shirt saying big sister doll and care items so she too can take care of her baby a baby book she can write in and draw picture of her sibling a throw away camera ,or even help using a digital camera so she could take picture with it to make a scrapbook... a t shirt to finish making after her sibling is born , with big sister and another one for her to make for baby brother on it. coloring book, crayons or books so she can have them to sit near mom when mom is feeding brother. coupon book for special things she can use when she need a bit of extra attention...
