Where To Buy Coloured Sand In Singapore?

Where can I buy red sand?

  • A friend's birthday is comming up, and for a present I thought I'd get her a vial of red, or iron-rich, sand, because of how much she loves a certain character from a show. The only problem is, I can't find anywhere to sell actual red sand, instead of sand colored red by dyes. Does anyone know where I could get some? Or perhaps how I could make some, seeing as how red sand is just iron-rich sand?

    Wow, that is tough!!! I don't think you are going to be able to get it from any store. I think you are going to have to find out where there is a red sand beach and try to find someone who lives there on the internet or something. Give them a call, explain your situation. Tell them that you will pay them, and have them mail it to you. It may come down to you calling some random person and asking. People are always willing to help.

Real red sand is fairly rare.... so buying some may be a problem. You'd have to look up a specialty rock store who would be willing to ship some to you. As to that, look up Red Sand Beach in Kaihalulu, Maui Hawaii. It's one of the few red sand beaches in the world, and you may be able to find somebody who would ship some to you. If that dosen't work, buy your friend a airplane ticket to Maui ^_^ As to how to actually make some, I really have no idea. Try placing your question in another category, possibly chemistry or travel. Good luck!

Look for a pottery clay supply store. The clay used by potters is a blend of different minerals, usually a custom mix based on a formula. Red stoneware has a higher iron content, but I don't remember whether it is from red sand or some other iron additive.
