How can I make my own invitations?

How can I make a perfect fold in paper? I need to fold 100 invitations and want the fold to look professional

  • I know there are companies that will do "scoring" but is there any home product or technique I can use?

  • Answer:

If you don't have the fiskards cutter with the black scoring blade or don't want to buy one. Tape two wooden rulers to the table, place the middle of the invitation between them. Use a old credit card and pull across the center it should leave a small scored line. Fold in half and using the old credit card, butter knife (test any metal you should use on old paper they sometimes will leave a mark) score the fold again on any flat surface.

You can buy a folder at a craft store or probably a stationery store. It is just a stick with a really smooth end. It is a lot easier on your hands than just creasing it with your fingers - after 100 of them you'll be weeping and holding your hands in pain. The folder (sometimes called a bone folder) costs about $2 and you'll be glad you got it!

If you have a Friskers cutting board, they have a scoring blade that can replace the cutting blade. It does a fantastic job. I'm talking about the full size cutting board that has the round blades. It is available in craft stores.

On your countertop, jam one end of the paper against a solid, upright surface like a wall. Bring the other end up to match, hold the two ends securely together and crease with something like the back side of a knife. Easy.

you could score with a paperclip and a ruler, thats how we had to do it in art.

Get a boning knife at a craft store. They r cheap.

Well, fold the paper like you would normally. Then, slide your nail across the crease.
